Covalent.

The first workforce operations platform built for complex manufacturing, out of a Harvard research project. The site had to explain capability management to a line operator and a plant executive in the same breath.

Covalent came out of a Harvard Future of Work research project and became the first workforce operations platform built for complex manufacturing. The website hadn't kept up.Outdated where the product was ahead.

The redesign had to serve operators and management at once and stay inside Covalent's existing colours — new accents only where accessibility needed them.

  • Discovery & research. Audited navigation, information flow and mobile usability, then benchmarked against Poka, Samsara and Augmentir to set the bar.
  • Structure. Simplified the site around who is reading — operator, supervisor, executive — with clear paths to Capability Management and Intelligent Work Allocation.
  • Animated explainers. The three hardest ideas got motion instead of paragraphs: how teams skill up, how workforce operations flow end to end, how tasks get distributed.
  • The OLE calculator. An interactive Overall Labor Effectiveness calculator, so a manufacturer sees the impact in their own numbers rather than reading a claim about it.
  • Collaborative iteration. Interactive Figma prototypes shared for the Covalent team's feedback, then refined against their technical and operational reality.
